How does Preform Eccentricity Tester work?

Testing the eccentricity of preforms is an important step in the quality control of PET bottles and ensures that quality products will be delivered to the customers. Thus, we at Presto have designed a high-quality Preform Eccentricity Tester that has been designed to test the eccentricity of the preforms correctly.

Preform eccentricity is the measure of how much the cross-sectional shape of a material deviates from a perfect circle. This property is important because it affects the material's ability to flow evenly and fill mold cavities during the injection molding process. Testing the eccentricity of preforms is an important step in the quality control of PET bottles and ensures that quality products will be delivered to the customers. Thus, we at Presto have designed a high-quality Preform Eccentricity Tester that has been designed to test the eccentricity of the preforms correctly.

By heating and forming the material, you can control the thickness, density, and other properties of the finished product. This process also allows for better dimensional accuracy and repeatability. Thus, with Presto preform eccentricity tester, one can easily test the eccentricity of preforms.  Here in this blog, we will discuss brief information about the eccentricity of preforms and how this lab testing equipment works.

What is preform eccentricity?

Preform eccentricity is the process of creating a small dent or depression in the center of a preform before drawing or otherwise shaping the preform. This provides a starting point for the tool to grip the preform, which prevents it from slipping during subsequent operations.

There are several ways to conduct a preform eccentricity test but using Presto preform eccentricity tester is one of the best methods for it. Preform eccentricity is considered to be one of the most important aspects of quality control helps determine how well the preform will hold up during the manufacturing process and how strong the final product will be.

The main purpose of preform testing is to determine the dimensional accuracy of the preform and to identify any potential manufacturing defects.

Why is eccentricity important?

Eccentricity is important because it helps to ensure that the preform being tested is round. If the preform is not round, it can cause issues with the final product. Additionally, eccentricity helps to ensure that the wall thickness of the preform is uniform. If the wall thickness is not uniform, it can cause the final product to be weak or uneven.

Eccentricity is an important parameter to consider when manufacturing preforms. Presto easy-to-use eccentricity tester will help the manufacturers to measure the eccentricity of samples accurately. The importance of testing the eccentricity of preforms cannot be understated. By doing so, manufacturers can avoid potential issues that could occur during the production and manufacturing process.

Presto’s Preform Eccentricity tester is used in numerous research centers and laboratories to perform the eccentricity test on Preforms. The device is equipped with a digital controller that helps the user to operate the machine digitally and offers user-friendly operations. You can easily take a sample testing session to test the eccentricity of the preforms. Now, let us discuss the features and technical specifications of this lab testing equipment.

With these high-end features and technical specifications, one can easily conduct eccentricity tests on the materials. Now, let us discuss the working of this lab testing equipment.

Working with Presto to preform eccentricity tester

The Presto preform eccentricity tester comes with a height adjusting knob to adjust the height of the gauge and perform holder. This highly accurate and reliable instrument will easily measure the eccentricity of performances.

Now let us discuss the working of Presto preform eccentricity tester:

  • Place the Magnetic Stand on the platform of the Eccentricity tester by the knob ON/OFF.

  • Adjust the gauge holding shaft on the rod according to the sample.

  • Mark 4 points on the preform in 360 degree that the user needs to test.

  • Put the sample on the sample holder in such a manner that the gauge knob touches point 1 and presses up to 2 mm. At this point set the gauge to zero.

  • Now rotate the sample manually to point 2, if the reading remains zero it means the sample is perfectly eccentric and if the reading increases or decreases it means it is not eccentric.

  • Now rotate the sample to point 3 and then to point 4 and measure the deviation in the Preform (if any) from the digital gauge.

By following these steps, one can easily test the eccentricity of performs well.
