In the PET industry, the dimension of the components and products is one of the major aspects that define the quality of the products, and the manufacturers need to make sure that the dimensions or the products are accurate and under the permissible tolerances.  If the dimensions of the PET products are out of tolerance limits, they might cause quality issues and other problems with the end users. In addition to that, the out of tolerance dimensions reduce the interchangeability of the products.

The most commonly used method to verify the dimensions of the products with high accuracy is using GO NO GO gauge. The manufacturers use GO NO GO Gauge to test whether the components are under tolerance limits. The GO NO GO gauges are basically gauges with holes of desired dimensions and very tight tolerances which help the manufacturers in a fast and accurate verification of the dimensions. The GO gauge has positive tolerances whereas the NO GO gauge has negative tolerances which are used for rejection or approval of samples.

When a GO NO GO gauge is selected, there are several factors that affect the selection. The risk involved with the products decide whether one should use a highly accurate or less accurate gauge. A gauge with lower accuracy will give an early idea of problems in the dimensions as compared to a high accuracy gauge.

The cost of the gauge is also a major factor when choosing a GO NO GO gauge. The cost of a gauge with very tight tolerances will cost more as there will be a lot of scrap material removed from the gauge that results in higher manufacturing cost of the gauge.

Presto is a major manufacturer of high accuracy GO NO GO gauges that are used by manufacturers in different industries for the checking the accuracy of the dimensions of products.
